As Team Lead for Medical Malpractice Claims at Pro, what does a typical day look like for you, and what are the biggest challenges you navigate in your role?
As Team Lead for Medical Malpractice Claims at Pro, my day is highly varied. A large part of my time is dedicated to the strategic management of claims portfolios, addressing client concerns, and preparing reports. I also provide professional support to my team and ensure that complex cases are handled efficiently and in compliance with legal standards. I’m regularly in contact with insureds, external lawyers, and medical experts. One of the biggest challenges is balancing medical, legal, and financial interests, especially in sensitive personal injury cases or when managing legacy portfolios with historically grown structures.
The medical malpractice landscape is complex and constantly evolving – what market trends or developments are currently having the greatest impact on your work?
The medical malpractice insurance market is undergoing significant change. Increasing cost pressure on insurers is driving a stronger focus on efficiency and automation. At the same time, expectations for high-quality claims handling, particularly in complex personal injury cases, are rising. Regulatory developments and data protection laws are also having a growing impact on our processes. Additionally, we’re seeing heightened sensitivity around reputational risks among healthcare providers, which calls for even more careful communication and documentation.
You’ve worked across both legal and claims handling roles – how does your legal background shape your approach to managing run-off portfolios and recovery strategies?
I find my legal background is very helpful for my job today, especially when it comes to assessing liability issues and developing recovery strategies. It allows me to identify legal risks early and manage them effectively, whether that involves reviewing limitation periods, interpreting policy wordings, or negotiating with claimants and their representatives. In run-off management, my understanding of the legal framework helps me develop sustainable solutions even in complex legacy portfolios and make economically sound decisions.
Pro places a strong emphasis on collaboration and culture – how would you describe the working environment in your team, and what makes it unique?
At Pro, we place great value on open, collaborative, and solution-oriented teamwork. There’s a strong sense of cohesion in my team. We support each other, share knowledge, and celebrate successes together. What makes us unique is the combination of deep professional expertise and genuine enjoyment of our work. We work in a hybrid model, but with a high level of trust and connection, which enables both autonomy and reliability. The culture at Pro — and specifically in my team — is shaped by flat hierarchies, short decision-making paths, and a real commitment to personal development.
