Jonathan Richards is an experienced solicitor and Managing Director of Pro Legal, Pro Global’s recently launched Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) registered law firm. Guided by an aim to streamline complex claims litigation, Pro Legal’s primary mission is to handle all stages of complex exposure-based employer/public liability, disease & illness, and abuse claims.

In this latest Meet the Pros blog, Jonathan discusses the thinking behind the new Pro Legal entity, how a digitally native approach supports its day to day operations, and the direction the team are taking when it comes to strengthening detailed strategies and business processes.

Pro Legal is a new law firm with one very clear advantage: we do everything inhouse, which gives us complete operational oversight. 

We launched in November 2025 with a clear vision: to streamline complex claims litigation. Starting from scratch allowed us to build the firm’s foundations entirely with our clients in mind, and with that came a significant opportunity — not being tied to legacy systems or inherited processes. This has enabled us to implement only those practices that add real value, delivering efficiency, consistency, and control for our clients. 

The idea behind Pro Legal forms part of a broader Pro Group offering, providing clients with a genuinely endtoend solution. Claims are managed prelitigation by Pro Global, with a smooth transition to Pro Legal where litigation is required. 

Operating in this way helps overcome common challenges associated with implementing effective data strategies. By retaining both stages inhouse within the Group, we avoid the need to cascade initiatives across multiple external firms, reducing the risk of dilution and ensuring processes remain streamlined, closely overseen, and costeffective. 

A further area of focus for us is the intelligent use of data. We analyse claims data to identify matters that should be settled early and resolve them quickly and efficiently, helping to reduce indemnity spend. Equally, data allows us to identify claims that warrant a robust defence, enabling concerns or discrepancies to be raised with medical experts at an early stage in the claims journey. 

As a digitally native firm, we are able to apply these insights consistently and at scale. In practice, this means using modern systems to assess the quality and completeness of information presented at the outset of a claim, helping to highlight inconsistencies, vague evidence, or emerging patterns that merit closer scrutiny. Importantly, key decisions remain firmly grounded in experienced legal judgment. 

By combining a digitally native operating model with a growing team drawn from across the law and claims sector, Pro Legal is well placed to support clients across the full spectrum of live litigation and legacy claims. Our focus is on using data and streamlined processes to drive efficiency, strengthen oversight, and ultimately deliver improved indemnity outcomes.
