Maria Florencia, Insurance Services Manager, helps Pro LatAm to ensure the efficiency of processes, aligning them with the company’s goals and values.
Our talented LatAm team works diligently in an underpenetrated yet fast-evolving insurance sector. For example, the sector has one of the world’s largest protection gaps but subsequently is ripe for growth as well as being a huge opportunity for insurers.
The region, which is highly exposed to earthquakes and hurricanes, is also a hotspot for insurtech. In this edition of Meet the Pros, we continue to spotlight the LatAm team, this time turning our attention to Maria Florencia, Insurance Services Manager of Pro LatAm.
Maria Florencia joined Pro back in October 2016, she has an extensive background in the insurance and reinsurance industry and is a valuable member of the Pro Global team.
In her current role as Insurance Services Manager, she oversees various projects in collaboration with national, international insurance and reinsurance companies.
But the primary focus of her department is to ensure the efficiency of processes, aligning them with the company’s goals and values as well as identifying who might benefit from Pro LatAm’s services. To do this, she focuses on understanding the needs of the client and how the department can add value.
She explained: “Our processes are 100% aligned with the company’s goals. We achieve this through strong internal communication, which allows us to work as a team and ensure that all our ideas and actions move in the same direction.”
Before joining Pro, Maria Florencia worked at Swiss Re as a Reinsurance Analyst for just over four years, and then as a Broker at Guy Carpenter for more than a decade in Argentina.
She added: “Working as a broker at Guy Carpenter was an incredibly enriching experience. I learned so much, and the knowledge I gained there is something that I apply every day at Pro.
“After the birth of my third child, I had decided to stop working – but here I am. And I’m happy to still be growing professionally.”
Finding her passion
But her entry into the insurance sector happened just by chance.
Initially Maria Florencia started her journey in insurance as an executive assistant to the General Manager of the branch of a Mexican reinsurance company called Reaseguros Alianza in Buenos Aires.
She said: “That initial experience opened the door to the insurance and reinsurance world and led me to discover an industry I’m truly passionate about.”
In terms of how she has seen processes evolve over the years in the LatAm region, she noted that it had been “remarkable” to witness.
She concluded: “The evolution has been remarkable. The professionalism of the office has grown tremendously, and we’ve undergone a complete transformation in the way we work. Today, we’re a much stronger, more efficient, and results driven operation.”
