For our next Meet the Pros series blog, we’re shining the spotlight on Oliver Walker, whose career journey began with a Pro Global-supported apprenticeship and has since progressed into an Business Development Representative role with Pro MGA Global Solutions . As the first blog in this series to feature an apprenticeship pathway, Oliver’s story is a great example of what’s possible when potential is recognised early and nurtured.

Can you tell us about your journey into Pro Global and how your apprenticeship fit into that?

I completed a Business Administration apprenticeship in January 2024. It was run through an external provider and lasted around 18 months. One day a week was dedicated to studying, alongside weekly webinars and monthly catch-ups with a tutor. My manager was really supportive, they’d review and sign off work, which helped connect the learning to my day-to-day role.

By the end, I completed six modules and finished with a presentation, assessment and multiple-choice exam. During that time, I moved through several roles, including Assistant Technician and Bordereaux Processing in Claims, before becoming an Account Manager at Pro MGA Global Solutions in summer 2024, followed by the role I now do.

What attracted you to the business development side of the business?

I’ve always enjoyed building relationships with people and in business development, we’re constantly meeting new entrepreneurs and helping them shape their business vision. Growing up, I also witnessed my father carrying out a business development role, and thus the move away from Account Management felt like a natural progression to me

How has your experience as an Account Manager helped in your current role?

Seeing what I’m now selling, what works and what doesn’t, has been invaluable. I understand the process end-to-end, which means I can give clients a much clearer picture and set expectations properly.

How would you describe Pro MGA’s culture around developing next-generation talent?

From a next-gen perspective, it’s one of the best places to be. I speak with people at all levels every day, including C-suite employees, which I don’t think I’d get elsewhere. Early on, Danny (CEO) brought me along to meetings, even when time was tight. That exposure made a huge difference.

Who’s supported you along the way?

In Account Management, I shadowed a lot of people, and now in Business Development I’m learning from Emily Lewis, who’s been a great mentor. I’m starting to build my own way of doing things now, and I feel confident leading.

Oliver’s journey shows how Pro Global’s apprenticeship pathways and development-focused culture can turn ambition into long-term career progression. And this is just the beginning.
